Development of NCORPE began after NRDs within the Republican Basin had both studied and used alternative methods of maintaining compliance with the Republican River Compact. The NRDs concluded that augmentation was more cost effective, economically beneficial for the region, and more reliable for compact purposes than the alternatives.
