Wildlife Viewing

The NCORPE project in cooperation with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is inviting the public to view wildlife, specifically greater prairie-chickens.

  • No Flash photography
  • Cellular phones required for (in case of emergencies) communication with NCORPE staff
  • Cellular phone ringers turned off
  • No smoking or alcohol use
  • Pack-in Pack-out, No littering
  • Stay on trails to viewing blind
  • Exit blind only if birds are not present
  • Check-in at NCORPE office at the end of viewing

  • Viewers will need to arrive at the NCORPE office 1 hour and 15 minutes before sunrise
  • Viewing hours will be flexible depending on behavior of wildlife
  • Maximum of 3 hrs. after Sunrise

  • From North Platte, NE, Traveling South on HWY 83 from the I-80 Interchange-
  • Continue South on Hwy 83 13.6 miles
  • Turn (West) right onto W. Lone Star Rd.
  • Travel 5.9 miles West (continuing past the Somerset and W. Lone Star Rd. intersection)
  • Turn (South) left on W. Lone Star Rd.
  • Travel .5 miles to Headquarters. 24871 S. Lone Star Rd. North Platte, NE 69101

The public is advised to dress accordingly (dark clothing recommended) and to bring all personal gear needed for viewing wildlife. Only a viewing blind will be provided.

No flashlights, camera equipment, binoculars, and/or personal gear will be provided. No restrooms available.
